Oprah Winfrey's Mother Fights Back

Oprah Winfrey's mother says she shouldn't have to pay a nearly $156,000 debt to a high-end fashion store because store officials shouldn't have extended credit to her, told AP. Valentina Inc. alleges that Vernita Lee of Milwaukee racked up $155,547 in purchases and interest as of July 1. The company sued, saying Lee fell behind in minimum monthly payments of $2,000.

Lee now filed a counterclaim contending that Valentina took advantage of her "lack of knowledge, ability or capacity" when creating her credit account. Court papers say Lee resolved a 2002 case with the company over a $175,000 bill. The resolution prohibited Valentina from extending further credit to her.
Simply put the store took advantage of her thing that her mega-star daughter, Oprah would foot her mother’s bill if she can’t pay.

AP first reported on that high-end clothing is suing Oprah’s mum, Vernita Lee (in black/white pic), for shopping debt. And to NYDN, yesterday another a small Valentina boutique in Brookfield, Wis, also sued Vernita Lee, saying she owes the store $156,000 for purchases and interest and failed to make the minimum monthly payment of $2,000 on her charge account. Lee said she doesn't feel she owes them the money. But six years ago, John Kowske had to take Lee to court in Milwaukee, where she lives, after she failed to pay him the $4,304.90 she owed him, according to papers posted on webofdeception.com. "Vernita was a co-signer on a loan for her daughter Pat," a source tells us. "Sadly, Pat died of a drug overdose." A judge ordered Lee to pay the debt, according to the papers.

A spokeswoman for Harpo Productions would not comment as to whether Winfrey will pay off her mother's alleged debt. But chances are good that the talk-show titan retained Gistenson, a prominent in lawyer in Chicago, where she lives, for Vernita. While Oprah seems to have forgiven her mother, Vernita did leave her behind with grandparents after giving birth to her at 18. Winfrey lived with her as an older child in Milwaukee, when she was sexually abused by a cousin and other male relatives. It is not known whether Vernita was aware of the abuse. Winfrey ended up living with her father, a stern disciplinarian, in Tennessee. "No one ever told me I was loved," Winfrey once said. "Ever, ever, ever.” the paper said.

To Oprah, don’t let this become a media circle; just pay off you mum’s debt which is nothing compare to your wealth.

Oprah Shuns Sarah Palin

Oprah Winfrey has issued a statement to TMZ that Republican VP candidate Sara Palin won't be on her show until after the election.

"The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over" said Oprah.

After the election? Please that won't be relevant anymore. What can't Palin tell Oprah to take her show and shove it. For the record, Barack Obama has been on "Oprah" twice -n January, 2005 and again in October, 2006 before he announced his run for Whitehouse.

In latest Forbe’s list of the highest-earning media personalities (below); Oprah Winfrey already a billionaire, made the fattest bucks for 2007. We should remember that she brought Dr. Phil into the Millionaires Club. Evidently, this shows any person Oprah touches could turn gold: the doc made it to an envy position of # 4 beating the vets like Regis Philbin and others.

What really monumental about Oprah's earnings is that her income alone is more than the sum of 8 others A- listers combined, with exception of Howard Stern.

Although, Tyra Banks has been in denial that she got inspired by Oprah. But she appears to be coming high. We would see if she can accomplish something closer, years from now.
