Britney Spears’s Award Appearance Is Not Happening

Britney Spears will not attempt a comeback performance at this year's Video Music Awards, according to MSN. "Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I'm telling you officially and unequivocally," Ryan Seacrest read in a statement from Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, on his radio show on Monday.
_
The report said that Rudolph told Seacrest that Spears is "in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and was never supposed to perform at the show," Seacrest said on his radio show. Rumors had been surfacing of a possible performance for a few weeks and were fueled even more after Spears appeared in promos for this year's show with Russell Brand.
_
Spears, however, has been nominated for three VMAs, including Video of the Year for her song "Piece of Me."Last year, Spears was chastised for her less-than-stellar performance of "Game More" at the beginning of the show.

_
FameJam once reported that Spears could appear on the award show when a rehearsal clips Russell Brand surfaced 2 weeks ago.
