Paul McCartney Talking Marriage AGAIN!!

Paul McCartney, who endured one of the most bitter and costly divorces in British history, still appears hopeless in "I Want to Hold Your Hand"-style romantic. Britain's News of the World is convinced the music icon may be contemplating settling down with squeeze Nancy Shevell, who's currently riding shotgun in an old Ford Bronco as they road-trip across the U.S. on Route 66. "Paul's utterly enchanted with Nancy and he's already rolling the idea of marriage around in his head," a seemingly mind-reading source tells the tabloid. "He adores everything about her. He thinks she's 'The One' and told [daughter] Stella as much. He said, 'What would you say if I asked Nancy to be the next Mrs. McCartney?' And she joked back, 'At least she's financially independent.'" (Stella, you'll recall, was said to be suspicious of Mills from the start.)

Still, there is a sticking point for Shevell, a wealthy New York businesswoman whom McCartney was first spied cozying up to in November: She hasn't yet finalized her long-in-the-works divorce, although she is legally separated. "Paul's not about to rush into anything, but he's happier than he's been for years," points out the snitch. "They've got so much in common. He knows Heather was a mistake, although he loves their little one Bea more than anything, and won't be put off by a bad divorce experience."

McCartney, who lost beloved wife Linda to cancer in 1998, even got down one knee a few days back, but it was just to get a good shot of Shevell as she posed during a stopover in Santa Fe, N.M. According to the Daily Mail, the couple have been roughing it on their journey by occasionally skipping the comforts of luxury lodging in favor of camping out. "It was incredible to see one of the world's richest musicians going back to basics," marvels a spy. "They didn't seem to have a care in the world."
