A Tribute To “The Black Moses”

The Soul and Disco Maestro, legendary Isaac Hayes died in his Tennessee home yesterday. The cause of the death is still unknown as of this morning but he is reported to have some previous health problem. It could be heart attack, while working out. His body was found in his gym by a running treadmill. Isaac Hayes was a music trendsetter who served as inspiration to music megastars like Barry White and Luther Vandross (both also deceased). Hayes won many awards including 26 Grammys, and was the first black musician to win ‘Oscar.’ His most famous song is “Shaft” (video below), a soundtrack used in the film “Shaft” in the 70s.

Isaac Hayes had featured in many great movies and he was the character called “Chef” in South Park cartoon series which he later quitted because its producers made a mockery of Tom Cruise’s scientology movement; a cult in which Hayes was a member. He was nicknamed “The Black Moses,” a title of one of his albums. Hayes is survived by a young wife (Adjowa), 2 yrs old daughter (Nana), and three adult sons.
