Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is neckdeep in sex scandal involving his assistant, Christine Beatty (left inset, mayor right). This wouldn’t have been so scandalous if the major didn’t lied about the romantic text messages he allegedly exchanged with the mistress.

However, the mayor’s mother, Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, survived a primary which was centered on her son’s misdeed. She just won a primary as seen here hugging supporter on Wednesday morning after the result was announced. In a speech she said "I will be your congresswoman until I decide to retire. I am honored, blessed and will continue to serve you to the very best of my abilities." while supporters cheer.

Her son used the same tone when he was first charged, but the way things are now, there is no guarantee that he would survive his term.But this lock up might give way for some leniency in subsequent hearings. (click video below)
